A warm welcome would normally await you at the 8.00am said services in St James’ Sotwell, in the parish of Brightwell-cum-Sotwell, part of the Team Benefice of Wallingford.
However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, our church building is currently closed except by appointment for private prayer or for funerals. You can also make a donation to the work of our church using this page.
Services normally take place on the second and fourth Sundays (Common Worship Communion) and fifth Sunday (Book of Common Prayer). Other services take place at St. Agatha’s but with alternating Joint Services at roughly 6 week intervals (St. James’ / St. Agatha’s) as advertised in the previous Sunday’s pew sheet & under the calendar of events.

History: The little church of St James’, in Sotwell, is built in the form of a chapel on a site first recorded in 1158. The present church was rebuilt in the Victorian era. Because of its small intimate nature, St James’ is entirely suited to the quiet Communion Service held there on Sundays at 8am.
